When you pause typing in a text box, Caret sends that text to our server, which sends it to Google's Gemini API to correct grammar and spelling. The corrected text comes back to your browser. We never store the text you write, and we don't use it for anything else.
Caret does not read or send password, email address, card number or one-time-code fields, or code editors. You can pause Caret on any site from its toolbar menu.
If you press Report on a fix, Caret undoes it and sends us that one sentence, before and after, with the site's address, so we can see what went wrong. This is the only time we keep any text you wrote, and only because you chose to send it. Reports are deleted once reviewed, or on request.
A random install ID; when Caret was installed; how many corrections it made each day; your answer to "How did you hear about Caret?" if you give one; and product events such as "a fix was undone". None of these include your text. If you buy Pro, Razorpay processes the payment; we store the plan, amount and date, not your card or UPI details.
Your recent fixes are kept only in your browser so you can see them in Caret. You can turn this off or clear it in Settings.
We don't sell data. Text is shared only with Google's Gemini API for the correction, and payments only with Razorpay.
Removing Caret stops all sending. To delete your install's records, email us with the Install ID shown in Caret's settings.
