A Grammarly alternative that fixes grammar automatically
Grammarly is a powerful writing assistant, but it works by underlining mistakes and asking you to accept each suggestion. A lot of people end up clicking Accept on everything. Caret skips that step: it corrects grammar, spelling and punctuation in place a second after you stop typing, and shows a small note with Undo.

Choose Caret if
- You already accept nearly every grammar suggestion and want to stop clicking.
- You write a lot of short messages: emails, WhatsApp Web, LinkedIn, Slack, comments.
- You want your own voice kept, with only real mistakes fixed.
Stick with Grammarly if
- You write long documents in Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
- You want tone advice, full-sentence rewrites or plagiarism checks.
- You need it on your phone or in desktop apps.
How Caret stays safe when it edits for you
Automatic fixes only work if you can trust them, so Caret is deliberately cautious. If a correction would change too many words, it leaves your text alone. It never touches password, email address, card or one-time-code fields, or code editors. Every fix can be undone with one click, and the Report button sends the sentence to us so Caret keeps improving. The text you write is never stored.
Questions
Is there a Grammarly alternative that fixes grammar automatically?
Yes. Caret is a Chrome extension that applies grammar, spelling and punctuation fixes on its own about a second after you stop typing, instead of showing suggestions you accept one by one.
Is Caret better than Grammarly?
It depends on what you want. Grammarly does more: tone suggestions, rewrites, Google Docs and desktop apps. Caret does one thing: it fixes mistakes automatically in the browser, so you never click Accept.
Can I use Caret and Grammarly together?
You can, but both will try to correct the same text. Most people pick one. If you mostly accept every Grammarly suggestion anyway, Caret saves you those clicks.
Is Caret free?
Caret is free during the beta. After the beta there's a free plan with a daily number of fixes and a paid Pro plan. See the pricing page.
